  • Interactivity allow for peer collaboration and discussion. The student can learn academic language necessary if they are allowed to interact with their peers.
  • Modify – choose or recommend reading materials at the students’ reading level that relates to the subject you are teaching.
  • Structure – be predictable and consistent in your expectations for the student
  • Preview – Let student know prior to a unit what the content and expectations will be. This will allow time to prepare, pre-teach vocabulary, access prior knowledge, etc.
  • Allow – let the learner tell you how they can best demonstrate their knowledge. Communicate with them, ask them what they need, give them access to your notes and overheads, or the notes of a classmate.
